THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 15th FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY OF CAUP – DAY 2

AVANT GARDE: VANGUARDS OF THE PAST, KNIGHTS OF THE FUTURE

DAY 2: SEMINARS, ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS, AND BIOHAZARD 2017

The second day of the College Week marks the return of the students into the Pamantasan with both academic and recreational events in hand. The morning was blessed by the annual Thanksgiving Mass within the the newly renovated University Chapel. Followed by the start of the seminars, prepared by the organizers to allow an exchange of knowledge of different skills and majors from multiple professionals in the field. Simultaneously, the architectural design competition formally started within the Drawing Laboratory.

In the morning, Arch. Mike and Cascante joined us to share their knowledge about green and vernacular architecture. These important topics in our field highlights the much needed consideration of tropical design in our country.

And whilst the seminars continue to teach, the competitors for the Architectural Design Competition are shuffled into pairs to incite camaraderie and to teach students the value of team work as they design a small Theater House.

Finally, later that day the clock’s hand struck 3 in the afternoon. And this bell marked the start of the preparation for the much awaited return of one of the most iconic events in the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, BIOHAZARD.

And after detailed preparation, we now present the undead for this year’s BIOHAZARD. Will you dare cross their paths?

Zombies here, zombies there, zombies everywhere! Run for your life cause these monsters will show no mercy.

And after the props are done, we go to the infested evacuation site of the government: MEHAN GARDEN, as we, along with our survivors, run through the obstacles of chaos and death.

And upon the peak of night, many have succeeded but there are also those who failed. Yet taking into consideration the experience of the quest, there is no wasted opportunity or memory in that evening filled with horror and excitement.

To sum it up, the second day was a mixture of physical and mental challenges that aims to prepare students in solving different problems given a certain amount of time or circumstances. And as the day ends with blood, sweat, and dirt… the only promise for tomorrow is a respite, a culmination of everything that has transpired. The CAUP BALL 2017 was at hand.
